La Locanda stands on a plateau 600 mts above sea level in the most beautiful part of Chianti. Surrounded by vineyards, woods and olive groves, it overlooks Volpaia, a magnificent medieval village facing Radda in Chianti.
La Locanda, originally a 16th century farm converted into a charming estate, has the relaxed atmosphere of a very comfortable country house that is incidentally a hotel run by its owners with the help of a small staff.
In the main house there are seven rooms, each with private bathroom with tub and shower. Although the rooms have all modern conveniences, the furniture and colour schemes have been carefully chosen to keep the atmosphere of a private house.
On the ground floor there are two rooms with a private patio and access to the garden, the junior suite and a standard room. On the first floor there are two rooms with covered loggia onto the view and a large suite with living room and bedroom.
The nearby former stables now house the sitting room with a large fireplace, library with bar and dining room, leading to a large sunny terrace where breakfast and dinner are served in summer.
The swimming pool shares breathtaking views with the garden.
All this makes La Locanda the perfect retreat after visiting Chianti Classico countryside, hamlets and cellars, a walk through the woods or a hard day’s sightseeing in nearby Florence, Siena, Arezzo or San Gimignano.
